Dramatics Society
In recent years, theatre has been
navigating afresh in the staging of plays. In the field of
education, movements like "Drama in Education" and "Theatre
in Education" have emerged and Annual Theatre groups have
associated themselves to these movements. Dramatics Society
of our college has been making a concentred effort to
appreciate these changes in the field of theatre with a view
to making them the basis of its activities.
It has always been a big challenge for us
to produce quality work from our students within the
constraints of our severely limited resources. Therefore, a
lot of thinking goes into the selection of our activities.
The theatre workshop has been our most important activity. This eighteen day workshop was preceded by some
one-day workshops to enable the students to develop an
understanding of their own selves as well as their
surroundings.
In the last phase of this workshop, four
plays were prepared which ware based on some famous "Kissas"
(Episodes). Among the plays, 'Sheikh Chilli' and 'Miyan
Kammal' were directed by Shri Akhilesh Kumar Yadav and
Shri Manish Saini while 'Mulla Nasruddin' and 'Unhone
Ghar Badal Dale' were directed by Shri Subhash Rawat and
Surabhi. Lalit made an outstanding contribution by composing
the songs and music for all the four plays. These plays were
enjoyed and appreciated by the students as well as the
teachers.
Our plays were invited to be staged at
'Vatsalya Mela' which was organised by Women and
Child welfare Ministry. The plays were applauded by a Vast
cross-section of audience comprising school children,
teachers and government officials.
It is not easy to understand the
difficulties of staging a play in the absence of basic
facilities like a stage and sound & light systems. The
production and staging of these plays could take place
solely due to the single-minded devotion and sheer hardwork
of our students. I thank them and also congratulate them.
The co-operation of the members of Dramatics Society, their
creative suggestions and profound understanding of theatre
guided the Society throughout the year. The contribution
made by Dr. Dwarika Prasad, Shri V. P. Sharma, Dr. Sadhna
Arya, Shri Rameshwer Singh, Ms. Neeraja Singh and Shri
Antaryami Naik deserves to be applauded.
Debating Society
The Debating Society of the college was
formed. The credit for the success of these programmes goes to
the members of the Debating Society in general and to Dr.
Manju Tanwar (convenor), Dr. Anamika and Ms. Neerja Singh in
particular whose constant guidance motivated the students
throughout the year.
