"My Blessings to the students
and to the labouerrs whom I served to the best of my capacity"
Behan Satyawati (1907-1945).
The College takes its name after Behan
Satyawati, the illustrious freedom fighter of Delhi, remembered
for her dedication to various missions. Known for exceptional
courage and conviction, Satyawati worked in close association
with patriots like Jawaharlal Nehru, Jai Prakash Narayan, and
Sarojini Naidu. Lauding her special achievements, Mahatma Gandhi
is reported to have said, “She is a very brave girl... I have
named her Toofani... Her whole life has been as forceful as a
storm”. Her short life, chequered with prison terms, social and
political activism, is a source of inspiration to all who
believe in freedom as the essential condition for human dignity.
