HISTORY
Society Department of History started the academic session by organizing a Seminar on The Nature of
Medieval State in India. The speakers were Prof. T.K.V. Subramanian, University of
Delhi and Prof. Abha Singh, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New
Delhi. The Seminar was
chaired by Prof. S.Z.H. Jafari, University of Delhi, and
Prof. Abha Singh, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New
Delhi.
The society organized a two day educational excursion to Jaipur and
adjoining places of historical importance. Along with City-Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal,
students also visited Amber. Senior teachers of the Department
accompanied the students and explained historical nuances for better
comprehension of the past and present reality. A talk by Dr. Sunil Mehru,
Consortium of Educational Communication, University Grants Commission,
New Delhi, was also organised to familiarize students with the
E-world and its relevance.
The
Department concluded its academic activities for the session by organizing a seminar on Partition and Communal
Politics on 11th
March, 2008. The speakers were Prof. Sucheta Mahajan, Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi, Prof Salil Misra, Indira Gandhi National Open
University, New Delhi. Seminar was chaired by Prof. Bhupender Yadav,
Rohtak University, Rohtak. Along with teacher-in-charge all the members of the department actively
participated in the events. The office-bearers of History society
especially students of IIIrd year showed great enthusiasm in these
functions.
